Underground also called the tube, subway or metro is a railway system that operates underground within big cities for passenger traffic.
London underground in Britain has 392 kilometres of track connecting 274 stations. Glasgow and Liverpool, two other cities in Britain have also underground railways.
The 'Metro' underground of Paris in France has 150 kilometres of track. Berlin and Hamburg (Germany), Rome and Milan (Italy), Madrid and Barcelona (Spain), Rotterdam (Holland), Stockholm (Sweden), Oslo (Norway), Vienna (Austria), Budapest (Hungary), Moscow and Peters-burg (Russia) and Kiev (Ukraine) have underground Railways. The underground railways in Moscow, capital if Russia has 220 kilometres of track with 141 stations. It serves 6.5 million passengers a day.
In the United States the underground railway in New York City covers 383 kilometres serving 468 stations. It serves over 5 million passengers a day. There are underground rail systems in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston and Cleveland - other American cities.
In Canada (North America), Toronto and Montreal have underground railway systems. The other underground railway systems are at Haifa (Israel), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya (Japan), Hong Kong and Kolkata (West Bengal - India).
